8800GTS vs. 8800GTX - Page 2

gts almost as good as the gtx? Nah...you better get a GTX because of the upcoming games. Otherwise, a 2900xt would be better than a 8800gts.

Wait a while.....with the new ULTRA out the prices on the 640MB GTS will drop.

It is an excellent card....even better if it is a EVGA.

GTS. I owned the 8800 GTS 640 and they are great cards. For your usage, it is perfect. Don't worry about DX10 yet, I suspect even my Ultras are not good enough to handle it at all max.

At times my 8800 GTX will lag at 1680x1050. I am not really sure how much less performance you would get with a GTS, but I estimate 15% overall.

Depends how well your card overclocks. I can get mine past most gtx clocks which closes the gap greatly.

I benched my card vs someone else's 2900xt with same cpu clocks and the difference was only 300 points in 3dmark06. 11125 vs 11496. This is at max air possible frequencies.

I would say to stay with the 640MB cuz games like GRAW requires 512MB to run at ultra quality

Damn i just bought an 8800 320mb a few days ago and now i'm reading that it cant handle Dx10? What gives? I mean sure it won't really hold its own against the GTX but will i be able to play Crysis @ 1280 x 1024 maxed out dx10?

P.S. its an XFX Extreme edition.
