8800GTS vs. 8800GTX - Page 3

Sorry to inform you but Dx10 has a heck of alot better/bigger textures, which eat away at memory, your 320mb card probably will not be abel to run it at max settings and i doubt my GTX will be abel to either. dont feel bad, it will still look great at any settings

Damn...well thats ok i guess these things are outdated the second they are off the production line. I didn't know Dx10 was such a monster. Crysis better be worth all the effort. Sure looks like it though =D.

Thread Starter
oh wow sry I haven't checked up on the thread I started haha

well yeah I decided against getting a video card for my bday all together and I'm going to get an Xbox 360 instead (Forza 2 and Halo 3 soon), I just felt this was a better purchase. Reason being that I already play all the games I have at max except some (like SupCommander) do give me a little lag at max so I drop it to med-high, but that's the only real problem. I have to say 90% of the time I play WoW anyway, and that runs perfect with almost anything you can use lol. Just felt more beneficial to have a next gen console as well.

But in case of the future I'll just wait till some more cards come out with DX10. Even the 8800GTX might not be enough to run some DX10 games at max . . . so I'm going to wait to purchase a new card for a while. The only game I want is World in Conflict and possibly Crysis, and I think I read correctly when I saw Crysis will even run in DX9? Also I believe World in Conflict will run DX9 as well. I'll take even med-high settings in games for a while.

In the meantime all my main games are maxed for my monitor (1440x900), and I enjoy it. Thanks for all the input guys.

Personally, I would stick with your current card and wait until the next line of DX10 cards come out. Just ask for birthday money or a gift card to Newegg or something.
