correct. The CDs are the two Windows Xp Pro CDs

Do you have a secondary HDD to test? Put in another HDD and try to install XP on it to see if it is the harddrive or maybe the MBR is bad.

So, the other cds boot up just fine on other machines and not this one?

Also, setting the hard drive up as master in another computer that can boot off of those cds still gives you those errors?

It wouldn't be the MBR because I tried it in a different computer that works and i am gettin the same error

sounds like ur cd/dvd player is gone try swapping it for a known good working 1 and give it a try where u formated ur hdd from a nother computer as a secondary drive i doubt it is ur hdd to me it sound like it the cd/dvd player and if it dosent read it then with the formated hdd is blank u will get that error u r getting

when it was in the other comp did u try to do a scandisk or errorchecking?

Yes. Yes. I don't understand why when i put the hard drive in the other computer it will not boot from the CD

I have tried a working CD-Rom when i put my HDD in my brothers computer

Well, assuming all other equipment is working then.
It may just be the hard drive...

The CD worked when i had all of my brothers components hooked up. But once i hooked my HDD as a slave it said "Boot from the CD:" I tried pressing keys and then it just booted normally. Then i tried restarting and not pressing any keys but had the same result.
