Summer HEADACHE

Thread Starter
I have just corrently sold my current setup without the 7600GT for $500CND and I have had a ***** of a time trying to sell it so i'm gonna get rid of it now while I can because I have been planning to build this summer for quite a while.

Since we know that intel has price drops on July 22nd, i was planning to wait till then because I am highly interested in going quad-core and the $266 on the Q6600 is very attractive. I don't think I want to go two months without a pc so I am already starting to gather up some parts so I can build it soon. I want a C2D to kind of pass-the-time until these price drops come or maybe we will have more penryn details by then and want to wait till the new 45nm quad-cores come.

What CD2 would you guys suggest? Its obviously just going to be a substitute and I will probably use it on other builds later on because I have two friends that want me to build them desktops before the end of the summer so I wouldn't really be at lost with it if I chose to switch to the Q6600 come July 22nd. Lately, I have been reading a lot on the 4300 but it seems to be crapping out on a lot of people, high stock temps and convex IHS, I want to overclock and don't really want to deal with a cruddy processor. I'd go up to the price of the E6600, but if that's unnecessary, i'd like to know.

I have included a list of parts I want to use with it, so any advice on those as well would be greatly appreciated.

CPU: C2D ?? need help ??
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3R (its supposed to come June 4th, and I really want a P35 board that performs well and is cheap)
PSU: Seasonic S12 ENERGY+ 650W (supposed to be good, and cheap on electricity bill, I am a cheap college student, I need stuff like this)
RAM: OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 PC2-6400, Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X-6400C4, or Buffalo Firestix FSX800D2C (all 2gb, suggestions?)
Video Card: Probably the EVGA 8800GTS 640mb $395CND on NCIX (just can't afford the GTX)
DVD: some rando DVD burner, whatever is 30 bucks at the time
Case: Antec P182 Black (something I have made my mind about)
Cooling: Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, S-Flex 63CFM fan, AS5 (already on its way)

again, thank you for your help in advance

Just Ordered all of my parts! (except for vid card) I decided to keep the 7600GT for now until i get some more money for the 8800GTS or maybe wait till we hear some news on the next nvidia cards. It'll hold me up till Crysis comes along.

CPU: Intel E6420
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35C-DS3R (both DDR2/DDR3 support!)
PSU: Seasonic S12 ENERGY+ 650W
RAM: Buffalo Firestix FSX800D2C (D9 chips!)
Video Card: 7600GT (just for now)
Case: Antec P182 Black
Cooling:Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, S-Flex 63CFM fan

I'm excited to finally start overclocking, i'll post some pics pf the build when the parts come in.

yeah, waiting for the next generation of DX10 cards could be a smart idea, but waiting till july 22nd for the $266 Q6600 is a smart idea also, its just so damn ahrd to wait sometimes. All i really want it fr are stuff like crysis so might as well wait till then and see what nvidia has to offer.
