Are Corsair Dominator 1066mhz good? - Page 2

I paid 370$ each kit (I bought 2) about 6 months ago. They are good, worth that much money? No.

However the price they are at now, its totally worth it IMHO.

I just bought the QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF which are supposed to be D9. They run 5-5-5-15 @ 1066 (2.2v). However, I am not impressed at all. The ram I had prior to this (OCZ Reaper 8500) was running 5-5-5-12 @ 1091 (2.2v), however, it was overheating so had to be returned due to the fact I could not find a tasteful way to get a fan over it. Anyways, Ill be playing around with the timings and overclocking it today, so I will tell you how it goes, however, so far, I am not all that impressed.

If you go over 800mhz mine are forced to 5-5-5-15. 2.2v.

If I run them at 800mhz they can do 3-4-3-7. 2.2v.

I get better benchmarks with them at 1066, 5-5-5-15.

I'm not sure why it says 2X4096... just noticed that myself, its actually only 4 gigs though. Newegg link is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145179

So far I have managed to boot into windows @ 1085, however, NO amount of voltage added seems to allow me to go any higher (up to 2.4), and neither does forcing the CAS to 6... or playing with any of the other internal ram timings.

Tub, I have 4x1GB, and mine boot at 1200Mhz 5-5-5-15 at 2.2v. (I bought the 2GB kits about 6 months ago)

I'm 100% sure I have D9s though.

You have the latest BIOs for our board?

Dont take these results as definitive by any means. This motherboard need a bios update bad (its P25, current bios is P28), and I only JUST installed them 15 or so minutes ago. What I am EXTREMELY impressed with is this dominator ram fan. Even running @ 1066 they are cool to the touch, where as the OCZ Reapers actually burned when touched. I also have two 2 Gig Dual Channel Kits of the Dominator C4 6400 sitting around (v1.2 and v2.1) which I will be testing out later. Just as a note the revision on my 8500's are v1.2.

"good" is a relative term- What "good" means to me might not mean what "good" means to, say, tubnotub1. Try being more specific, like "will it overclock to DDR2-1200 speeds?" That would help a lot of people out with answering the question if you have a concrete definition of what "good" is in this case
