My life after quiting video games. - Page 20

the author of the thread is 15? sheesh, I wish my parents bought me a computer at 15...I don't see the problem with gaming, if it's done with moderation. I play for around 1 hour 4-5 days a week, sometimes a little longer.

I play games, but i also have a life. I dont play every day. I just play when im bored before i go to bed (if i have work early in the morning) or after work to just chill out and relax before i go do something.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that games should not be a top priority. Going out and doing stuff with friends and meeting new people is 100x better than any videogame, even Crysis. Humans need different forms of interaction with different people. Its not healthy to not have that. Theres no need to stop playing all together (unless you have a problem and play videogames way too much), just play them when there isnt anything else to do.

*** you're telling people to snap their cd's and stop playing computer games?

if people arent getting girls its because they cant get girls and computer games dont change that. ive been in a strong relationship for 2 years now and before that ive had 3 long term relationships and I'm 18. I have been gaming for most of my life.

I get a and b grades, and i am focused upon what i want to be focused on.

computer games are enjoyable. it can be taken too far in instances such as WoW but i never play for more than an hour at a time.

your story may be a success in your eyes but you are being way too drastic and in my mind idiotic about the situation.

This is what i call the 6 day program.

I realized I had to quit gaming 2 hours a day on weekdays and 4 on weekends.

I will further quit by throwing away my current rig away and getting a new sony 17 inch Cpu :core 2 duo 2ghz 2 gig ram and a Geforce 7600
which can't play crysis

I urge the rest of you to quit, it will give you way more life and these effects

1. Why would you be more focussed?
2. Playing video games doesn't make you introverted...it's just that introverted people prefer being alone, so they play video games.
3. Lol...no. It doesn't affect your personality.
4. The purpose of life is to enjoy it.
5. Video games don't control you. You would just be taking drugs or something if you weren't busy playing games.

I'm much less into gaming and much more into modding and building...it's just so much more gratifying than a point total on a screen. I'm sure a lot of people here can say the same.

I have not stopped playing games but I went from playing World of Warcraft 6-8 hours a day and not doing my homework to playing 1-2 hours of playing fun games. When I play WoW I had a 1.67GPA and I had no life. Now, I have a 3.5GPA, play Soccer competetively, and hang out with my friend's a lot more. And, I also work for my dad (HVAC work), which gave me hte extra money and life skills to take everything in moderation (and it stopped me from buying useless stuff like OCZ Ram and High-End stuff like DDR3).

Since I earned some of my money for my rig I chose every part carefully and made sure to build my system with care, so I didn't ruin any of my parts. By reducing my hours I spend playing Video Games I have a lot more self confidence and I feel a lot better. In fact, I've had more time to go to focus on the important things in life. You, Your Friends, and Your Family.

My hard drive is now filled with my favorite music, my favorite TV shows, and my family pictures; which, is a lot better.

Some people can handle playing games and having a social life, others can't. I've made alot of cool friends playing video games and when I move away from this city really soon, I can still be in contact with them just as usual.
