I was lost in a strange new world,I didnt know what to do with myself and turned to drugs.
I was a heroin addict for 2 weeks until I came to my senses and bought Test Drive Unlimited.
Now all is well.
The moral of the story is there are alot worse hobbies/addictions you can have than playing games.

It is purely opinion and this will soon go out of control.

Yes, quite true.

What some of us, including myself, have done is tried to prove one better than the other. The only thing we can do is offer our opinion, which I have tried to best represent in type.

I am saying, two hobbies cannot be given rank, they can simply be discussed. The amount of people who like a certain hobby may be greater than that of another. In no way though, does that prove the stature of the hobby.

So, who cares! hahah, lets have fun. I like games, but I like guitar more and in no way does that prove guitar better than video games!

WOOT 500th POST!! An honorable one at that.

I'm off to bed guys, I have school tomorrow and six hours of sleep is not enough.

NO arguing while I'm gone, this is fun!

LOL this is probably the first argument ever on OCN that hasn't ended in death for all sides. We've actually come to an agreement of sorts!

I've played video games since I was 4 ... and now im 18 I used to play more when I was younger be then again there wasn't much to do when I was younger ... so I'll say maybe like 50 hours a week went to gaming when I was younger, I play a good.. hmmm... 30 hours maybe of gaming now... But it hasn't changed me much... I still get good grades but as for the argument of getting with girls... Im yet to understand the fascination of companionship be tween humans... the drive to be together it seems.. odd at times... or even pointless... does it bring true happiness? true sanctification? I guess its a point of view ... to truly know what true happiness is... altho I think you can find it in other things.... depending again on your point of view.... do you think your life goal is to be with someone else? meh.. enough with this rambling ... to jump back on topic... I think its good that people can find entertainment in what they like do to... you obviously didn't like video games enough to keep playing them... it would be the same with someone that played a sport if you don't have a drive to do something why do it?

If you think gaming is a waste of time, then thats fine(though I disagree). But don't try pushing it on others and calling them addicts. Maybe you're one of those MMO addicts, but we're not.

I game maybe 1-2 hours a day. Few mroe on weekends. I DO have a social life, I DO have a girlfriend, and I enjoy playing it so it makes me feel good which is a productive thing. I am NOT fat and lazy, I train in MMA 3 hours a day as well. And my classes are all at B+ to A range including AP classes. The key is Moderation and avoiding compulsively playing as an addict. I can stop when I want to and I know this because I have. I stop playing regularly for Finals, AP tests, etc.

Well how I see it, you only live once and if video games are fun then play them, if gaming is your only addiction

Symptoms of computer or video game addiction:

For children:

Most of non-school hours are spent on the computer or playing video games.
Falling asleep in school.
Not keeping up with assignments.
Worsening grades.
Lying about computer or video game use.
Choosing to use the computer or play video games, rather than see friends.
Dropping out of other social groups (clubs or sports).
Irritable when not playing a video game or on the computer.

For adults:

Computer or video game use is characterized by intense feelings of pleasure and guilt.
Obsessing and pre-occupied about being on the computer, even when not connected.
Hours playing video games or on the computer increasing, seriously disrupting family, social or even work life.
Lying about computer or video game use.
Experience feelings of withdrawal, anger, or depression when not on the computer or involved with their video game.
May incur large phone or credit bills for on-line services.
Can't control computer or video game use.
Fantasy life on-line replaces emotional life with partner.

There are even physical symptoms that may point to addiction:

Carpal tunnel syndrome.
Sleep disturbances
Back, neck aches
Headaches
Dry eyes
Failure to eat regularly or neglect personal hygiene

LMAO,
Now go look up a real addiction like drugs or drinking and see there symptoms gaming doesn't even come close.
