ok so i bought my new Inno3d 640mb 8800gts yesterday and i tried to install it. at first, i installed the VC but forgot all about the 6pin power connector and pushed the power and this loud and long nonstop beeping sounds gets my attention. i immediately disconnected my power cord and looked for my mistake. after realizing it, i connected the 6pin connector and still the sound does not go away. any idea what causes this?

this is my pc specs btw:

E6400@3.2Ghz
2x1Gb Corsair xms2 ddr2-800
1 optical drive
my PSU is 420watts 29A Enermax Noisetaker

Whats the current rating on the 6-pin rail. I'm thinking that your psu doesn't supply enough current on that rail and the vc won't turn on so it gives a error.

Power down completely and unplug. Uninstall card and reinstall card. Plug in power and turn on.

Make sure you have it in the primary PCIe slot ((if you have an SLI board))

No. Try to re-seat the gc. I think you didn't put it right or it's defective. Your psu is fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194012

Your going to want a good 500+watt psu. The beeping might be because your card isn't getting the amps it needs to run correctly. The minimum the 640 can run on is a 400watt, 420 is too close for comfort

No he wouldn't. His psu has 2x20amps. Perfectly fine for a gts

Did you put the 6pin cable in while it was running?

its the wattage he needs to worry about, 420 when you need 400 minimum is going to limit overclocking
