Can no one help?

I have posted a couple of times trying to figure out what is going on with my processor. I put a Thermal Take K8 silent boost heatsink on my processor. I have removed and reapplied my thermal grease. I have seated and reseated my heatsink numerous times. I have tried turning it around, so I know it isn't on backwards. Its doubtful it would matter which way it sat as long as it sat flush on the processor. What the heck am I doing wrong? Everything I have tried has failed. Is my fan messd up? I know my processor works fine, but the temps run at 50c, and I have not noticed anything too odd. I can't seem to get my wireless card to see my router, but maybe that is my fault. Obviously I don't really know what the heck I am doing cause this is baffling me. I built one computer before this, but nothing like this happened. I used a stock cooler with my first build and it was fine. Please some suggestions.

Have you checked the finish on the heatsink, is it flat if not lap it, but this wouldnt cause that xtreme of a idle temp, if thats the temp your posting. What tim did you use and how much did you apply?

Slow down there chief -- you're all over the place. Is you question in regard to your temp and whether or not it's high? If so, the answer is a definitive "it depends." What is your ambient (room) temperature?

Sorry I get ahead of myself sometimes. My idle temps run at about 47c, but after I boot it up and restart it, it seems to be about 49-50c. I used some Arctic Silver and kept removing from the processor little by little. I checked it earlier when the room couldn't have been over 76F. It could have been a little hotter, but I had the fan going and it was cool to me anyway. I checked it a little bit ago, and my room is probably about 80F. The temps are the same. I have noticed that the computer runs fine. I was simply saying that my wireless network card was not operating properly. I don't know if that is related or not.

You are speaking to a novice here so I am not quite sure what you mean when you say "lap it." How do I do this?

I think I'm screwd. I took the processor out and when I went to put it back in I noticed that it looked like there was some thermal paste or something in between the pins. It seems as though its hardened because it didn't seem to budge when I tried to remove it. For whatever reason the processor seems to run, but I am assuming this could be part of my problem.

Not good....

Carefully take so 99.9% pure rubbing alcohol and a q-tip or something and try to remove as much of the AS5 as you can. Be very sure not to damage any of the pins.
