don't believe voodoo was the first graphics accelerator. maybe the first one of decent performance but I'm almost sure others came before then just not as fast. riva 128 was not the first card able to do 2d and 3d on the same card and are you sure the 1900xtx was the first card that had more pixel shaders then texture units?

The Voodoo Graphics was the first commeical 3d Accelortor actully, also Riva128 was the first intergrated into one chip, others came before it but they had a 2d core and a 3d on the same PCB, or lacked 3d features such as the Virge/DX cards

ive voted 6800 ultra because its the first card that alllowed a high resolution and still playable framerates with aa and af.

The 8800gtx has changed nothing yet because theres no direct x 10 games out, only increased framerates.

3dfx voodoo was amazing,i cant even explain the satisfaction i got when i first installed my 3dfx diamond monster and run Carmageddon on Glide 10 years ago. Then i got a intel 840 8mb direct3d card, was pretty decent aswell, and then diamond fusion 16mb banshee! oh boi i'm 24 and never had so much fun playing games and stuff since then.
I'm not old enough to know about the Voodoo stuff, but people seem to reminisce about it in a fond manner that makes me feel left out =P.

That being said, I had to choose the 9700PRO
post #20 of 42
I would have to go with Voodoo. After that, everything else came naturally (sort of).
