I know that AMD has said that the AM2 socket will support Phenom But will it support quad cores. Also will my chip set work with the new Phenom CPUs,dosent it just need a BIOS update for it to work. Also i have a 8 pin CPU power plug so power dosent sound like to should be a problem.

So what do you mean "nope" it will not support dual core Phenoms or it will not support quad core?

Also here is a post that i found on a nothere wedsite,Can any one show me a offical site where i can read up on all of this stuff

Quote:
The upcoming Am2+ procs, Barcy/phenom will be compatible with am2 motherboards, thats why I choose this path. You will lack DDR3 support along with HT3... But that should have little or no effect on a consumer desktop, only on servers and stuff will the extra bandwidth of DDR3 and HT3 come into effect... So AM2+ Quads and duals will work with an AM2 motherboard.... provided that there will be a possible bios update for the chipsets. 590 570 550... X580/xpress 3200, and 480x/xpress 1150..

Hope that straighens some stuff out..

Idk squat about Intel's path right now..

Wrong. AM2 will support single, dual, and quad-core AM2+ processors.
Once again...

AMD k10 will (supposedly) work on AM2

Don't worry about chipset and other details... AM2 is AM2

So the only thing lacking is HT3 and DDR3 on an AM2 mobo?? Will AM@ support all 4 cores? because I think I seen somewhere that quad-cored will run in dual core mode on an AM2 mobo :S
post #9 of 12
that's only for FX AM2
