anyone reckon that they will be able to compare to the 8800 series after heavy overclock?

Who knows.. it just seems they're desperately scrambling together to try and outperform the 8800gtx but the architecture is too inefficient.. The dual GPU has a chance I would think, but the cost of it is a whole 'nother story..

Anyone know the speed of that supposed "fastest card in the world" 2900XT? Would have to be a ridiculous core to beat the GTX.

Geeze, I cant' imagine the power consumption of a dual-gpu card. I mean, I am thinking the vias on the board would just burn up with that kinda current going through!

~425 watts on one card?! (just my estimate, tahts not in the article)

I doubt it'll be dual gpu 2900 cards or something, it'd be a 2600 or something to that nature.

They use lower end components to dual up (dual x1950pro, dual 6600gt) to deal with power consumption.

and I wouldn't call any of this desparation...I have faith that when the drivers mature the 2900XT will beat the 8800gts by quite a bit. (It already does it in 3dmark)
