Best CPU Cooling without removing mobo

Thread Starter
My previous post was a little long-winded and I didn't really know what I wanted. This is attempt #2:

I'm looking for the top/best air coolers for an E6700 that won't require me to disconnect everything and remove the motherboard from the case. (That is, I want to remove the stock cooler, and replace it with the aftermarket one, and be done with it). Looking to overclock, but I'm not trying to scrape every last MHz out of the processor.

Motherboard is Asus P5B Premium Vista Ed.
Must fit in mid-tower Antec Nine Hundred.
Blue LED's are a bonus.

P.S. Is there a way to tell from pictures/specs if the mobo needs to be removed to install a cooling system?

Look for something with a pushpin mounting system, TTBT VX I believe is mounted via pushpins.

TTBT VX And you could always mount a blue led fan.

Did some more research.

Seems from Thermaltake I have three push-pin options for 775:

Big Typhoon VX
or the new ones: V1 and MaxOrb

Can anyone reccomend any other brands that have pushpin coolers for E6700?

The TT Big Typhoon is a great cooler, but the VX edition's snap on brackets can fail and the huge heatsink will fall off I heard.

I just took a Big Typhoon VX model back to Tigerdirect because it came loose. Luckily this is a new system and I have been struggling with cooling for sometime so I had my motherboard monitor up and saw my CPU temp go from 45c -> 70C -> 91c -> 111C before I quickly yanked the power out of the back.

Cause? Pushpins came loose and the Typhoon had come off the CPU. I put my Glacialtech Igloo 5700 back on and screwed it down tight. Temps are less than they were with my Typhoon installed. So I will never use a pushpin setup on my MB again.

Not to say it doesn't work for some....but I am not taking any chances again.
