Motherboard dead?

Thread Starter
My comp will not boot to bios and I get a long beep that keeps beeping endlessly. According to the manual, it appears to indicate a memory problem. So, I replaced the memory in my sig with some Corsair memory I received today. No go, still the same. Therefore, I'm thinking it's a mobo problem and I'm really frustrated at this point.

Ideas? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Repeating beep = memory
Repeating high low tone beeps = CPU

Have you tried single sticks in various slots?

It's the first one, long repeating beep. Yes, I've tried every stick of DDR2 that I have in all the slots with every configuration. Nothing.

Hmm...OK. I was having problems previously where every time I would reboot/restart, I would get the long beep and then have to power down completely for a few seconds before it would restart. I could then restart it but the bios would go back to default settings automatically. Does this info narrow it down some?

OK, will do.

Checked all connections and still beeping. I did give it another try with moving the memory around and it didn't beep once. The hard drive light on my case was blinking rapidly but nothing else was happening. No beeping, though.

I may just tear the whole thing down and put it back together to be sure everything is connected properly.
