7900 GTO and 7900 GT in SLI?

Thread Starter
I wasn't quite sure so naturally I thought I would ask here. Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum but anyway... is it possible to run a 7900 GTO in SLI mode with a 7900 GT?

Are they the same GPUs? Both G71? Not sure.. thanks in advance for the help.

No.

A 7900GTO is actually a gimped 7900GTX. You can flash that GTO to a GTX with a bios update...

the GT and GTX/GTO are different cores = no sli...

you could sli that GTO with a GTX if you did the bios update...

Both are G71's, but I remember something about the 7900GTO just being a underclocked GTX.

*EDIT*

Actually, you could flash a 7900GT with a GTO's BIOS and somewhat have it work. The GTX is basically just an overclocked and overvolted GT, and a GTO is a slightly overclocked and same overvolt as the GTX compared to the 7900GT

Alright, thanks for the help... Would you know of a way to fix the problem with nvflash not allowing me to flash my 7900 GTOs BIOS? It says mismatch override or something along those lines. It refuses to flash it. According to ATI tool my card is clocked at 650/785 so I dont even think it can handle the GTX bios..

EDIT: I was trying to flash the 7900 GTO to a GTX

By your stock speeds, if your stock speeds are 650/660 you have a GTO

Oh and by the way, only EVGA and MSI did GTO's so you don't have one

That is exactly right, if your GTO can handle GTX speeds then you can flash the BIOS to a GTX and run it in SLI....however most 7900GT are not capable of running GTX speeds without a voltmod, so you would have to voltmod the card...hope it OC's to GTO/GTX speeds and then flash the BIOS
