Hello everyone! + Help?

Thread Starter
Greetings. This is my first post on the forums here. And I am very interested in Over Clocking. But recently I have had some issues. Perhaps I could get some help with? I use a AMD Athlon 64 (2.00ghz). And my motherboared: ECS SiS755 H8HT 1600. It said it was great for over clocking. So one day I over clocked my CPU. And I didn't really notice a diffrence. (I'm a heavy online gamer). For the past couple of weeks I have been having some MAJOR CPU issues. My CPU has bursts of running at 100%. And I have posted a picture below to show this. I have also noticed. The System Idle Proccess. When it goes to 99 CPU, then the total CPU Usage goes down to 0%, and vise versa.... It really lag's my computer. So I declocked my CPU and set it all back to default settings. Can anyone please tell me what it is I can do to fix my CPU usage? Dosn't seem normal for it to be running on 100%.

Thank you in advance,
490

99 system idle process means there's nothing loading at the moment

When you load a program, the % of the system idle process will go down because you're in load mode now instead of idle.

Well don't I feel smart. Haha. Well what about my CPU almost constantly running at 100%? Could this be from overlocking or somthing else?

Are you running anything when it's at 100%? Orthos? Folding?

If not, then you have a problem. I'll find the fix for it. I found it before.

My CPU will run at 100% when i'm just sitting at my desktop, and doing nothing. Norton Anti-Virus is processing at all times, but that's all.... I noticed my svchost.exe takes up alot of resources as well.

Sounds like your norton sucks at finding virus's (whats new though lol). Stuff like that is usually a sign of a virus.

Here's a HotFix that Microsoft released.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Give it a try and tell me how it goes.

If that doesn't work,try this http://msmvps.com/blogs/donna/archiv...s-3-0-too.aspx

This was directly after restarting my computer (mandatory restart to install the fix you linked me.)

Aparently it did not work.
