8800 GTX KO ACS -> Games freeze, help?

Thread Starter
I have an EVGA 8800 GTX KO ACS card and after playing graphics intense games (such as Oblivion, NWN2, or CS:Source) for a random amount of time, the game will freeze and I will have to manually restart the computer.

Sometimes I can even do a ctrl+esc and be able to move the cursor, but will still have to manually restart as I can't exit the frozen game (taskbar doesn't show up, only cursor).

This does not happen on other/older games such as Jedi Academy, World of Warcraft, or Prince of Persia.

I have only recieved the infamous 'nv4_disp.dll' error once so I don't know if I'm in the same boat as those people.

Temperatures are more than acceptable on the card and CPU. I am running the latest nVidia drivers and WinXP 32. I am not overclocking (yet).

Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred case
EVGA 8800 GTX KO ACS
Asus P5B Premium
Core 2 Duo E6700
Ultra X2 550W
Mushkin HP2-6400 DDR2-800 (2x1GB)
X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card
1x SATA HD
1x SATA DVD drive

The Mushkin ram says 2.1v which is what I have it set to in the BIOS. I also set the CAS numbers to the ram specs.

While we're on the topic of ram voltage though, in the BIOS, the 2.1v selected is in red font instead of normal white that it is if i select lower ram voltages. It doesn't say there's any issue but red usually means bad, no?

maybe the psu? are you oc'ed at all? I thought it took 450watts for the ko version alone. Wish i could help more but there are so many helpful people on here that I am sure you will figure it out.

Not overclocked. I really hope it's not the PSU. 550w and dual rails with 30+ amps should be enough to power one 8800 gtx...Plus, if it was the PSU, wouldn't drawing too much power cause the system to restart?

Games are just freezing for me. It is really frusterating as this is a newly built computer and this is the only issue when playing games but a frusterating one nonetheless.

Can anyone shed some light on my situation or reccomend some software tests I could run to determine what is causing games to freeze with no error or BSOD?
