Well, iv been playing Oblivion for a while now since i got it. Forgot what level im at. But im around day 70. And just recently, my character is looking REALLY old, like 80, when he started lookin like 20. And now, he is having wierd dreams, and getting vampire powers. Im not sure whats going on, and i keep losing health off and on and its hard to keep him alive long enough to find a cure!

Anyone know whats going on with my character and if there is a cure?

Yep, what you have there is the classic case of vampirism.

Quote:
The easiest way to cure vampirism is once you have contracted Hemophilla (Vampire disease) go to a local church and pray at the alter for a cure (seriously). If you have been sick for more than 3 game days you will be a vampire. There are a few pros to being a vampire. One of the best benefits is a great strength, also you have add bonuses and spells. The biggest draw back is the sun begins to harm you and it forces you to walk at night.

Another draw back is people and merchants will refuse you service in your vampire form. The way to lessen the effects is to feed on sleeping NPCs. The best place to find sleeping NPCs is at the stables of any town. There is usually a farm hand asleep on the outside of the stable. Make sure you access that area after 11 pm. Now that you know how to contract, treat, and live with the disease lets talk about the cure.

Once you are a vampire you need to go to the church and talk with someone at the alter. They will send you on a whirlwind tour across the country talking to different people. You will end up at a old woman's house named Draklowe. She will make you a potion, but first she will need a few ingredients. First, she will need 5 Grand Soul Gems. This part of your journey will take you the longest but, with the help of this guide I can save you a few hours. The Five places I have found Grand Soul Gems:

1)Dungeon of Miscarcand (to the west of Skingard)
2)Squardered Mine (next to Draklowe)
3)Imperial Market (Not sure which Vendor)
4)Leyawjjn (Mages Guild)
5)Bravil (Mages Guild)

Once you have the 5 Grand Soul Gems take them to Darklowe and she will give you the next part of the quest. You will need 6 cloves of Garlic, 5 Nightshade leaves and 2 Shoots of BloodGrass. You will also, need the blood of a Argonian and Vampire ashes form a Vampire named Hindaril. All of the ingredients can be found at various mage guilds and markets. The blood of a Argonian is pretty easy (there are the lizard people). There is a bum Argonian wandering around the city of Leyawjjn poke him with the dagger and you good to go. The last piece of the cure is you need to kill a powerful vampire. Darklowe will give you the exact locaction of Hindaril. Once you kill him she will give you the potion and a extra potion for a friend

Ah, that's what I was thinking. Vampirism. Thanks for the clarification on that, it's good to know.

Vampirism isn't all bad, you get attributes to strength, hand to hand, acrobatics, mysticism, etc. Just remember to feed often.
Yeah you can catch vampirism by fighting vampires. If you don't cure yourself of it within 3 days, you become one yourself. You gotta seek a cure from some old witch lady in a house if you want to get rid of it now.

Yeah to feed go up to someone while they're sleeping, and press the use button and select feed instead of steal if you're croutched. This will make it so you won't take sun damage for awile, so you can complete the quest to rid yourself of it.

Don't become a vampire, it screws up your characters face even if you get cured.

There's a mod to prevent this though.

Ahhh this completely sucks .

Iv actually progressed alot, and have alot of special weapons i stole from oblivion. My fav, the sword i got from an oblivion creature, causes 11 damage, 2 handed, but it will take anything down within 3-4 hits. I love it. Never fails me in the arena. Im not sure exactly what i got it from, but i havent run across another one so i guess its kinda rare.

I guess ill go on the long journey to rid myself of the vampirism.

Or....maybe i could live with it. All im doing right now is fighting to get money for a black horse, right now i have 3,500~. So im not far off. So if i feed then how long will that last before the sun hurts me again?

Also, is it worth it to buy a house? Right now im just using the abandon shetcombe farm.

No a house is more of an end game thing, the gold is better spent on a horse or weapons.

I think you get 3 days before you start getting hurt by the sun again, on the 4th day you pretty much die instantly going outside, can't really remember.

You will get one of those wierd messages about your dream, when you get that you should feed again or else the sun will be affecting you soon.
