I don't know, faulty battery? It seems like whenever you boot your PC, something makes a change in the BIOS and then creates problems when you attempt to boot. But again, that's very odd. Make sure the battery is properly inserted and that the reset jumpers are set correctly.

You installed any aftermarket cooler?If you did be sure you don't have the screws in the back of the mobo touching the case.Or you can have a shorth circuit.

there are a few boards that will, for some reason, auto overclock. over in cisco is this slot 1 board with a pIII 500mhz. clear cmos as you may and all jumpers in regular spots its running almost 933mhz

BIOS are not perfect. even at default it sometimes getts the settings wrong. check your product specs against bios settings, change them if needed. ie ram, cpu vcore. when i put mine togather bios got my ram settings wrong. it set em as 5.5.5.16 @ 1.9v when it should have been 4.4.4.12 @ 2.2v
