All the real gamers buy the 360, with its massive library of two awesome games. (Gears of War and Forza 2)
Gah go PC or PS3 only there the only consoles with enough power to deliver a true next gen expirience.

I just ordered a copy of Vista, got a good deal on it. But that would be messed up if they did get DX10 drivers for XP. But I wouldn't mind since Vista looks a bit better. Yes, I do agree MS will probably kill the notion of XP DX10 drivers, it's all about the money!

Guys, guys. This argument is moot, we should all boycott DirectX altogether.
Only buy games that support OpenGL.

Less muscling by Microsoft, and it would give Linux a chance to become a contender in the one area it still can't compete with Windows on: Gaming.

And bet your ass if there were a market for it, there would be gamer-linux distros.

Hell at least he's developing a way to get DX10 to XP I don't see any 19 year olds doing that. Whats disregard to the bold claims?

Preach on Brother!!!!!!!! Preach on!!!! Okay seriously the only thing holding Linux back from the homefront is directX. All computing tech on that level always boils down to games. Games are what drive us - better framerates, more realistic audio, etc. MS dumped direct sound entirely, but they have made a serious investment in DX10. All it would take to make Linux gaming a reality is OGL based games, the devs wouldn't even need to make an installer, as that would be taken care of by the community. If Novell, Silicon Graphics, Sun, and every Linux distro really wanted to hurt MS's market share they would dumps loads of resources into OGL 3 and even start work on 4.

If the devs had an alternative to DX10 that delivered similar performance with no licensing fees(just assuming DX10 has a hefty one) it would become the new defacto standrard.
