DX10 for XP - Page 3

XP does not utilize quad cores and dual cores near as good as Vista... So I think even if this happens, the newer games like Crysis, alan wake, call of jaurez, etc will be better on vista.

And on top of that, XP will get cut off by M$ in support and updates, leaving XP to be unsafe forcing users to upgrade.

If you buy a Wii, you should be shot for buying a console that has almost 20 good titles, a fun implemented motion sensor system, a cheap $250 price tag and reliable/stable build.

All the real gamers buy the 360, with its massive library of two awesome games. (Gears of War and Forza 2)

I love my wii. Try and shoot me. We have a gun attachment now!

Back to XP... I think the software side is feasable, its the hardware I have my doubts about. If you're creative enough you can get just about anything to work through software, but if the hardware doesn't work there's not much you can do about it. Even if Nvidia and ATI dont release XP DX10 supportable drivers, I think there are people that hate vista enough to write their own extension to the drivers to allow for gameplay on XP. Is it quite an undertaking? yes. Is it feasable? probably. Is it really worth the thousands of hours of coding to avoid gaming in vista and retaining that extra 5 fps? ehh, probably not. But there are quite a few crazy lads out there that will do it for kicks regardless.

And I agree, M$ will do all they can to crunch DX10 capabilities in XP, both on a hardware and software level. Heh, I can see them releasing an XP update that blocks use of the future DX10 application. And I'm sure they'll be pressuring and even sueing the people involved in the development. Good luck to them.

Heh, and its not to say I wouldn't like to see it created, if nothing else it gives us more freedom from the iron grip of M$, now we're just cattle with two pens to play our games in. (figuratively speaking, right? )

What I would LOVE to see is a Wine patch for linux to play DX10. sheeeex.
It's about time!

From what I have read, the DX10XP is going to be a wrapper, so even if an update is pushed out by Moneysoft to block DX10XP, it will probably be rewritten. I really want to see DX10 in XP, because I loath Vista.

I would be pist if these people go this to work.I have vista basic and i dont mind the proformance loss its not the great any way.But M$ said that DX10 was for vista only and i paid $200 for it realy just so i could have DX10.This is a rip off,M$ should do somthing about this.I mean what do you think M$ would do if the got the Aero glass theme and flip 3d to work in XP they would be pist. And they should do the samthing for DX10,If you didnt buy a copy of vist them you dont get DX10 That is that.

I agree, all they need to do is make a "gamer mode" like Press F12 to enter Gamer Mode on boot, and it could load only NEEDED services and processes.

why cant some of u people accept the fact that DX10 is vista only. its time to move forward, not back! i like vista alot. i love the eye candy and the only reason that you get low fps is the drivers. its not M$ fault, its the drivers from nvidia and amd, but they are getting better on each release. also if dx10 was able to be emulated in xp, i'm sure the performance would be very bad and like others said there would be no official driver support.

i'm sure M$ will be stopping this project if they see it make any headway.

Vista & DX10 FTW
