DX10 for XP - Page 8

Before anyone criticizes me for hating Vista because it's new, keep in mind that I loved XP from the start - by far the best OS microsoft has made since 6.22

Let's just say that Vista is so bad I can't believe I wasted the time downloading it illegally. I'm not talking about activation, I took care of that, but the OS was just so bloated and gross. I don't need bubbly Aero crap and gfx in my OS. I want wallpaper and icons to click on and that's it. The concept of GUI just eludes me. Dos prompts ftw

I would love someone if they actually got DX10 to work in XP (not so worried about using DX9 hardware though, I'm probably gonna upgrade to 8800 soon anyway). But if DX10 never came to XP, I wouldn't be too distraught. I'm sure Vista is going to be much better with the new service pack so I guess I would just suck it up and "get" Vista

While the new features are nice.. The performance loss isn't so great. But I doubt NVIDIA would make DX10 drivers for XP even if this goes through, because microsoft wouldn't really like it.

If this does work then microsoft needs to stop lying about stuff!
what version did you get? vista ultimate is ~$230 here

I'm not so sure about that. So far, when pointed to CPU usage reviews for multicore games(like Supreme Commander), all I've seen is Vista using more processing power. It keeps the cores loaded better, by being slower; more CPU intense on every core, while providing worse framerates.

Maybe...maybe...it does a better job when managing tons of different tasks, but I have not seen it yet.

DX10 is already ON XP - Crysis DX10 demos were run on XP x64....

M$ want Vista t sell, and if that means making a critical feature, DX10, Vista only they'll do it - it's BUSINESS, not being nice...
