Obviously, this costs more money (the second video card), and you'll need more power (as well literally in terms of Wattage... heavier PSU, as in CPU power... think core 2 duo, or the future AMD Phenom). For the budget you're working with, a single card set up will be just fine. I am assuming you won't have another $300 laying around fairly soon.

And even if you do, it's still a better idea to upgrade to the next higher level single card (8800GTX or whatever is available in the future), than to go SLI.

very well said. You are the man!

ANyway, dude, yeah, go with what they suggest, I just wanted to get something cheap but good enough to play games at good settings.
Or you could be like me--just ride on the coattails of other people's awesome suggestions, and not actually make one yourself--works out perfect that way! LOL.

The x1650 in that system would have played games, but for the price, and given the current selection of cards, it would not have been the wisest decision, that's all. Still, it's a decent card for it's time, just not one I'd suggest for a new build. But anyway...

Back on topic. Depending on the monitor you're using, a 320mb 8800 might be fine--19" and smaller, it should be plenty. But if you're gaming at higher res than 1280x1024, then I'd recommend going with the 640mb version. Don't buy one 320 now and SLI a second later--the performance isn't as good as a single better card. Just my 2cents.
