No display on my brand new system

Thread Starter
I just built a new system last night and every time I boot up the PC there is absolutely no signal or anything. The videocard turns on and the fan spins so I know that its getting power. There is no BIOS startup or anything just a blank screen. My videocard is an ati radeon x800 xl and my mobo is an MSI K9A platinum. What can I do to try and fix this?

I recently got myself a nice new Gecube X1950 pro 256mb AGP card. I had no issues for the first 5 days...then 2 mornings back, switched on my pc...and the dreaded blank screen greeted me. All fans are running, even the gfx card fan and I even have the normal start up beebs.

If I take the card completely out and go onboard gfx, then all is fine. Just to make sure that it's not the agp slot I inserted the oldddd (and very trusty) FX5200 agp 8x and all is fine. I swapped the RAM modules around in the slots, but when I put the ATI back...I get a blank screen. Now I must add that I did all of this on an AOpen ATX-300GU PSU. If this is the problem, why would it only happen after 5 days and if the PSU is now faulty, why would the rest of the system still work.

Please people, I need your help, I don't wanna loose my new baby!!!!

I connected the D-bracket with the 4 leds that tell you what the problem is with your mobo and I found out that my processor was failing. I RMA'd it and it should be back within a week or two. The reason it wasnt making a post beep is because it couldn't even start in the first place.

In response to trixanno:

Your card is dead. RMA it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Took out the FX5200, plugged in the x1950 this morning....and it works!!!! No change on the setup that it did not want to work on Sunday morning. I then tried a 500w PSU on it and continued to work. Switched off and on a few times with the 350w again with no bugs at all. Then just one moment, it gives the same problem, plugged in the 500w, and the problem persisted. Put back the 350w, same issue. Left the pc off for +-15minutes, switch on...and it works!!! The box is open, good ventilation , no component hotter than normal.

I might have to RMA this after all. Does anybody know how long the warranty period for Gecube ATI is? This card was purchased 12 days ago, should still be under warranty?

A 300W PSU? No wonder..... even a 350W will NOT power that rig with a X19xx card in it, you are burning out your PSU. Get a quality 450W+ they are out there and cheap...

Nice thread hijacking going on here lol, but anyway to power an X19** series ATI card I think most people know now that you need a good quality psu with at least 30amps total of the 12v rail.

OK....if the PSu is the problem, why did the 500w then not work?

Which PSU do you guys propose to use?
