7600 gs shows black screen after driver install

Thread Starter
hi.

just got my asrock dual-sate2.

rig : asrock dual sata2 s939
amd athlon 64 3000+ 1.8ghz
512 mb ram ( will be more when i get money)
hdd western digital 100gig
psu 430 watt ( recommended for 7600 = 300)
gfx 7600 gs ( agp 265 mb (sprakle geforce))

the gfx works when i just turn pc on, but when i want to install drivers my screen gets black after installing
i already tried different drivers but the same thing happens.

i changed erverything in the bios to set the agp slot as the first vga.

what can the problem be?

That's a really odd problem

Is your pci-e PSU power connected to the video card? did you try re-seating the video card?

Also have a look at your event viewer logs, right click my computer\\manager\\event viewer\\ then select both system and application and check for any RED errors and double click and check the description.

Check to see what driver is actually being loaded, right click my computer, manager, then device manager and look at your display adapter.. is it the NVIDIA driver or the default VGA?

By the way, the screen if I remember correctly is supposed to go black after loading the NVIDIA drivers, but only for a moment

Also check what driver is being loaded for your monitor... make sure its indicating "Plug and play" and not "default", that might cause weird problems.

Your monitor driver has nothing to do with your video card driver, they are both seperate.

Install your monitor as plug and play, reboot, then double check to make certain its still indicated Plug and play, then try to re-install your video card driver.

What does it actualy say for the video card driver, right click my computer\\manage\\device manager\\ then click the + sign beside display adapter.... what is it showing?

Did you re-seat your video card?
