23'' monitor help

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
I recently picked up a Samsung 23'' LCD tv/monitor and I'm having a problem playing Bf2. Whenever the game loads it crashes straight to the desktop. I'm absolutely positive it has to do with my monitor because my 17'' at 1280 x 1024 works perfectly. The 23'' runs at 1360 x 768.

Any ideas on what the problem might be, and even a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You need to check the res... settings in the game. Most LCD HDTV's have strict res.. and refresh rates, that is what seperates a HDTV from a computer monitor. Just look up the res and refresh rates in the owners manual, then open game on the old monitor, next set up the custom res.. and refresh rates, save, hook up new 23"lcd and see if it works. I had a similar problem with a KONKA 32"lcd, and that is how I solved it.
BTW the other poss is if you changed to a higher res, your vid card may not be able to handle the stress, even an 8800 can have troubles on a 22" wide lcd on some games with settings on high.

BF2 has issues with some widescreen resolutions, I don't play the game but I have heard of this issue quite a few times.

I'd recommend checking the official BF2 forums maybe there is a fix over there.

I'm pretty sure nothing is wrong with your hardware its just a game issue.

A 640MB 8800GTS can run 1360x768 like slicing a knife through butter. lol.

Yeah BF2 doesnt support the 1360x768 but does 1600x1200
Youll have to change to something the games supports first then join and find what you max will be.
You can alos edit the .exe command line to get the 1360x768 like I have to with my 22" for 2142.

Taken from another site:

Start the game with the options (right click on the shortcut, properties and add this to the target line)

"C:\\Battlefield 2\\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

replace 1440 and 900 with the res u need
