Source's lifespan is going to be phenominal for a gaming engine..I wish more FPS's used it; it's not a resource hog, it has very scalable performance, and it looks good. I think it's what other gaming engines should aspire to be like.
I completely agree the source engine has gotta be the most genious engine every created. I love the feel of it, it's so fluid & so realistic and just seems to never feel aged. & it runs so well while looking so good in it's own way.

I love EP1...and shooting the balls at people never got old for me. I love their destructive randomness

I wish EP2 was out earlier. But if they need to delay it to make it better than thats fine. Better than what EA does with rushing out a half finished product.
Very nice!

The Black Box for 360, PS3 owners looks cool for the price. HL2, Ep 1, Ep 2, Portal and TF2 for just $60. Nice one Valve!

I was just wondering when this was going to be done. The only thing I'm looking forward to is portals, it looks pretty awesome. I'm not so big on ole' single player game play lately but it will be something different.

Black Box got cancelled.

I'm looking forward to Episode 2. I loved Episode 1, sure, it was short, but that's because it's an Episode, not a full game... and it wasn't that short, unless you just blazed through it and played on easy. I go through everything, take my time, explore, think up strategies before going into battle.

IMHO, Episode 1 was nothing short of amazing. Zombines are a great addition to the monster cast.

I don't like the fact that it is taking them so long to make these episodes. They claimed that getting the episodes out will shorten development time, but in return we get much shorter games.

Episode 1 only took 2-2.5 hours and was extremely repetitive. We now have to wait well over a year to see Episode 2.

And the timing of it's release is not very good. It is going to be competiting with Crysis, Unreal Tournament 3 and Need For Speed. I am sure there are some other games out in the fall too.

Now I am pretty sure Valve said Episode 3 development started pretty much the same time as Episode 2, which means Episode 3 shouldn't be out that much longer after 2. Although I am sure we will wait another year or so to see that.

Gah, I donno if I can wait much longer, I just recently played through HL1, HL2, and HL2ep1 because I loved the story so much and I wanted to see if I could catch any revealing details this time around.

Such a good story, and the source engine is the best thing ever made. Even on my crappy 9600xt it runs on all max settings on 1024x768 with 80-100 fps normal and only goes does to about 45 in intense battles.

Gotta love it.
