Any motherboard with an PCI-E X16 slot is compatible with the 8800GTX.
If you ever plan to go SLI, I'd recommend the Asus P5N32-E SLI
. I prefer Asus over eVGA when it comes to motherboards.
If you never ever go SLI, then an Asus P5B Deluxe
or even an P5B Plus
will serve you well.
All these boards overclock very well and you'll be happy with either one.
And you DO want to be sure that the other components match that card. What is your total budget for this rig??
I'd say something like this:
- CPU: E6600
- MoBo: Asus P5N32-E SLI
- RAM: 2x1GB G.Skill HZ DDR2 800
- Video: 8800GTX
- Case: Thermaltake Armor, Antec Nine Hundred or similar sized case
- PSU: at least the Corsair 520W/620W or the Silverstone OP650/DA650 if you decide to stay with a single card, or a Silverstone OP750/DA750/DA850 if you plan SLI in the future.
