C2D E6400 Running Dangerously Hot Help! - Page 3

i got my Pentium D 920 overclocked to 2.8Ghz @ 81*C load for an hour, but then i had to lower clock for safety reason.

So i dont think your temp is too high.

SHUT DOWN, reseat, apply thermal grease (preferably as5) pray that you've not lost more than a year or 3 of life for your cpu!

Ok right ive done some spring cleaning and brought temp down to under 80C on full load so thats a result.

A5S paste coming in next few days.

I need a recommendation on a new HSF for the E6400.

Budget well i had a look at £30 get you a decent one [$60ish]

If you are willing to shell out that much cash for a cooler, go with the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme. That is, if it will fit in your case.

Right then just put my A5S Paste on and installed my Zalman Cnps9500 cooler and wow what a difference.

Just happily going on its merry way at 40C

Now for the next test. Flight Simulator X!

Edit : Slightly worrying...fan hasnt got going yet on the cooler just sort of going one little bit at a time. Suppose its not hot enough for it to s tart spinning?

sorry mang, didn't notice you had dropped your temps about 30 cel

Thats pretty good on stock cooling (but 40'ish at stock clocks kinda bites)
