DVD!

I always get the collector's edition/DVD version of everything, cause the DVD is way better than the CDs...

Also, I think it should be the first disc.

When I put my game discs back in the box I like them to be in order. When I put back the last disc I gotta take the other ones out first...if the play disc is the first one...then I just plop it on top.

My favourite option though, is NO DISC. Who needs that crap? Screw DRM. Lookit Oblivion...it did fine.

If I somehow got the CD version of a game by accident I will take all the discs and combine them on to one DVD

Actually, lately since I have like infinite hard drive space, when I get a game I just rip the installer right on to one of my hard drives and just install from that. Makes reinstalling after formats a breeze not having to search for discs and having a 5gb game take under 60 seconds to install

You know, there's games that are multiple DVDs now.

And having 200+ floppy disks for an installation (windows 98 floppy disk edition? holy crap), it's almost gaurenteed that you'll run into a problem somewhere.

Floppy disks, from my experience, are about the least reliable things in the world, and definately have a fail rate of like 1%, so 2 bad disks in a 200 disk floppy installation wouldn't be surprising. Plus even if it did work, it'd literally take the whole damn day to finish the installation.

As far as last disc/ first disc goes.. who cares?

Personally I think CD checks should be done away with. What (popular) game doesn't have CD cracks out for them? Honestly, I don't see the point, CD-Keys are the proven most effective anti-piracy measure, there's no need for anything else.

How about...there shouldn't be ANY disk required just to play the game. The idea of having to have a disk (to thwart software pirates, probably) is a nuisance and is useless useless because there will always be a workaround such as a "no cd patch" and use of virtual drive CD images run of the HDD such as PowerISO.

Imagine if you had to have your Windows cd in to use your OS.

x2 Also STALKER. No disc needed. It's really annoying to have to have the CD to play even though it doesn't even get used while playing. More games need to be like Oblivion and STALKER.

I BOUGHT a copy of GTA: San Andreas and copied the dvd in case I damaged the original. Well, the original was damaged and I managed to reinstall from the copy fine but it would not PLAY because it wasn't the "original disk" :swearing:

I bought the game and will never be able to play it again, even though I have a perfect copy.
