I own both and It seems to me that the PS3 has alot more power.
The PS3 also runs all its games at a much higher resolution then the 360.
It seems that all the very impressive graphical games are only coming out for PS3. Maybe its because theres not enough disk space on a standard DVD, while the PS3 has blu-ray so theres plenty.
Saint's Row and stuff has major frame issues during parts of the game, and the graphics are not that impressive, even Tomb Raider had slight frame issues. I'm beginning to wonder if the 360 is as powerful as they say, or we've just had alot of badly coded games.
1) I want to make this very clear. These are not screenshots from a PS3, nor is Obsidian Edge coming out on the PS3.
Obsidian Edge and Obsidian Edge 2 are independent 3rd party mods for Cry Engine and Cry Engine 2, respectively. This a mod for PC. Those are PC screenshots. Since they are not associated with a publisher, this will not make its way to the PS3, it will be PC only.

2) The PS3 does not run at a much higher resolution than the 360. Both consoles are capable of 1080p, however, to save on resources, most games are rendered at 720p and upscaled to 1080p, or whichever resolution the viewer uses. Almost every single game out there runs at 720p.
3) Gears of War is already out, thats graphically impressive is it not? And then you have Mass Effect and Alan Wake lined up, to name a few. Sticking with DVD isnt going to place a limit on graphics, theres plenty of compression technologies that result in no or almost no loss in quality. Look at the attachment showing textures from .kkrieger, a 96KB game.

The Cell has nothing to do with running eye candy. It is all done with the GPU. The GPU determines how many FPS a game can get. I would have thought that you, having been here so long, would have known that. Thats why I, for example, can get away with a Pentium 4 and still run most games maxed out on my X1900XT. The Cell and the Xenon are more than sufficiently powerful, and neither will create any bottleneck on the GPU. I can assure you that no game runs anywhere near 120FPS on either console, unless it is last gen game, or a game with low detail.
