4 gigs corsair xms2 pc2-6400

i have been using 2 gigs for a while now and recently tried to upgrade to 4. my bios and my OS only read 3 gigs instead of 4. and i am gettni this wierd number in cpu-z under CAS# Latency:

and in cpuz, it does recognize 4 gigs but not my OS.


all 4 sticks are the same make and model.

Take out each stick, and see what happens when you go from 4GB to 3GB and back to 2GB...also try taking out the "Old" stick and putting in the new ones you bought, if the problem is still present it may be one of the sticks or both. Sounds like a process of elimination.

As to what could be actually causing it I have no idea...sorry

i tried process of elimination. all the sticks are working. they work separately.
they all work in dual aswell. it wont read past 3 gigs.

i got the solution to my problem on tomshardware. i had to enable memory remapping in my bios and now my bios and the OS read all 4 gigs of memory
