2.48ghz 1.52v super pi 32M stable!

it did 1M in EXACTLY 40.000s

so, think i should swap out for my mom's 3200 today? i think i might. but it was such a PAIN to get the thermal compound right. the arctic ceramique is too thick to put a dot on and then the heatsink, so i have to spread it out with a credit card. I think i might based on what core she has in her's

how stable is it like that btw?

had to back mine down to 2.45 2.48 isn't stable enough for day to day use. Unless maybe it was cause the ram was at 206mhz. maybe i should've tried upping my voltage

how well do Newcastles overclock? My mom's system has a athlon64 3200+ Newcastle AND she has pc3200 ram, so i'm gonna stick the ram into my system and swap out for my 2700 (i have a 3200 and a 2700, that'll even it out) I'm wondering becasue my 3000 Venice maxes out at 2.45ghz and i'm hoping to break into the 2.5-2.6ghz range. think the newcastle can do it? It's revision DH7-CG

You should be able to hit 2.5-2.6Ghz easy with that venice. I'd say it's your ram or mb holding you back from the higher fsb. If you drop your multi. to 9 and up your fsb to around 300Mhz using
about 1.42vcore-1.5vcore if you have good cooling.

And Newcastles oc'ed pretty well iirc.

I can't drop the multiplier. that's what's holding me back. IF it runs under a certian temp, i can actually get it to boot at 2.6ghz, but not stable. it does run at 2.5 decently, but not stable enough for me. the vcore is at 1.47 right now, but it really should be at 1.52 to be prime stable for 24 hours (it runs cooler at 1.47 though)

So, how high do you think the newcastle could hit? I got it to hit 2.4 without changing any settings but the ram speed on my mom's computer, BUT her mobo is a POS and you can't adjust things properly, and i THINK it doesn't have an AGP lock like mine does. hitting 2.4 on stock voltage makes me want it pretty badly now. I'll be back in a bit after i swap the CPU's

Thats a huge jump. Set the ram to it's lowest settings and work on OC'ing the CPU and see how far it will go. Then work on OC'ing the ram.

My brother DevilDriver has a newcastle and was able to hit 2.8Ghz but I think he just has 2.7Ghz verified. Those newcastle's really seemed to do pretty good. And 270-275Mhz fsb should still be doable on the right set-up with your venice, it took me some tweaking with my mem timings and voltage too though. You can see my 2.7Ghz verified in my sig.
