The Official Socket 754 Overclocker's Thread - Page 46

Ok here comes my noobness (This is my first CPU overclock, I've only done a Graphics card before this - not my current g-card)

Pioneer, if my RAM shows errors at 200mhz even when everything in the system was standard then would it be better to lay off it a bit so that I don't get RAM errors?

Probn, Got this from device manager

Advanced Micro Devices, Version 1.1.0.0, date 25/4/2004.

I didn't even know CPU's had drivers, I guess that I should look for a driver for this which isn't 3 1/2 years old?

P.S. The temps I gave were from Sandra XIIc, not sure how accurate it is?

[EDIT]
Just tested with Everest, 48-49C under prime95

[EDIT2]
Do I trust the voltage in the bios (1.375) or the voltage in CPU-Z (1.424-1.45) or in Everest (1.41-1.44)

here my OCDB

http://diy-street.com/forum/showpost...4&postcount=23

Dont know your board but the DFI nF3 250 had to have 1.9v chip set after 310fsb and the agp volts bump to 1.6

Most all E6s will do 2.7
CPU_Z showing 1.696 ( bios show 1.76) is and has always been my # in 754 format
post #453 of 672
Those are some good results.

I saw that my CPU max voltage wasn't supposed to go over 1.45? and when I set it to 1.4v in the bios CPU-Z and Everest show it varying from around 1.42-1.47. Is it safe to let my voltage go up to around 1.5v like you have?

Also what numbers should I be looking at for my RAM voltage, I have it set for auto, I tried 1.5, 1.55 and 1.6v yesterday and the system was highly unstable.

When I do the prime95 FPU intensive test (top option) it's stable at 2.2ghz, but when I select the bottom option which also taxes ram it fails after 1-2 mins.

have to give the model Num of your ram so we can look up what chips you have. Dont know your board. But some boards are limited to 234 fsb because of the unlocked sata ports on nF3 format
post #455 of 672
It's an nForce 4-4x board, not nF3. Here it is

I'm in Ubuntu at the moment, but I'll log into windows in the next 30 mins or so and edit in my RAM number. I assume I can get this from either the bios or CPU-Z or Everest.

[EDIT]

CPU-Z didn't give a RAM serial number, but it gives this:
Part Number: CL3-4-4-DDR 400
Manufacture date: Week 16, Year 06

I've just done that now. The errors didn't come up when I was testing the CPU only under prime95 though.

Update: With everthing on stock settings I get no errors, when I overclock even just 200mhz and bump the ram reference down to 166 so it's running about 380 (instead of 400 stock) I get prime95 errors.

Maybe the RAM auto voltage is being done wrong when I overclock?
