The Official Socket 754 Overclocker's Thread - Page 52

Just been playing with my old rig and after my sig rig, this was a pleasure to OC! I've had this machine for ages though my partner uses it mainly... tonight there on my machine as somehow they cleared the BIOS of my old OC settings I did AGES ago.

Equipment:
Gigabyte K8NS Pro Mobo(F9 BIOS)
Sempron 2600+(DH-E6 Stepping)
Radeon 9550
1 Gig DDR

In literally 3 hours I got 2467mhz with cpucore-1.55V, +0.2 chipset voltage. +0.1 memory voltage. Idle 24C under Orthos Load 54C.

The Radeon 9550 I got to 420mhz no problem(from 250Mhz... I think).

I'm going to leave it at that for a until I get time to try a bit more, I reckon 2.7Ghz should be reasonable, I'm using stock cooling on this machine... anyone have any ideas on what I should be able to reach?

If only the L2 cache was a bit higher... she's getting into WoW with me at last and this CPU really cant cut it at the settings she's seen on my main machine(all high... full frame rate). She's not going to be happy going back to the Sempron machine now

I may sell this machine along with my other spare machine(4.0Ghz Pentium 4, atock HP machine withGeForece gfz card I cant fit in due to SFF!!! lol)... I have no idea how much to adevertise this equipment for, anyone have any ideas? Of course I would prefer to trade for parts... but is there actually any demand for this type of thing still? It's been a while sinced I OC'd this rig but after my adventures the my P5n32 Sli mobo this was so easy! Hmmm maybe I instead I could just get a 754 chip with a better L2 cache but I dont think it'll cut it with max settings on WoW... any sugggestions on what this gears worth or wherther to just try find a better 754 appreciated.

Heh, that Radeon 9550 clocks nicely to and I believe when I got it I was able to open up 4 closed pipelines(risky I know) and it worked with no problems!

>Look right above you. I got one running in my desktop.
>It has to have the right HSF ( because it is Lidless) and your Mobo has to support E >stepping.

I finally ordered one Mobile 64 3400+(AMA3400BEX5AR) any way as it was really cheap. My mobo is an asus K8N-E deluxe. E stepping is this power states thing isn't it? If so I suppose that it supports it. What is HSF?
Also I have a pair of kingston ddr 400 cl3 (or cl2.5 not quite sure, will check) should I go for a pair of lower latency? What do you think my oc limit will be? (it will be paired with a Thermalright IFX-14,which I am also waiting for). Will I need to do anything nontrivial to install a mobile cpu on my desktop or do I install everything as usual?
Thank you very much!

I forgot to mention my mobo has an nforce 3 chipset

Well right now I'm at:
2.4 GHz
x3 HT multi
166 MHz mem divider
35C Idle temps
47C load temps

So i am hoping for 2.6 which should be attainable with a slight voltage bump

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=333569

well 2.5 is unstable

You should be able to get 2.6-2.7 with that chip. Your temps are definitely high for that venice though. I would get a cheap aftermarket cooler like the freezer 64 if you want to spend any money at all on that rig. Otherwise looks like you are going to have to Socket 754 rolling Whoot! I'm going to start OCing my revamp 754 rig soon as well .

Dude i'm almost at the same level as you are....at 2.36ghz,but x10 multi(which i cant change),180mem divider, and getting the same temps as you are....i've already fried my pci sound card due to high clock speeds...so i guess you need a good cooler to get it o'ced more.

Do it keep the 754 Alive! I remember buying my first 754 rig when AMD first came out with the ground breaking tech.
