Halo 2 PC, anyone else have it? - Page 4

Holy crap I was just about to make a thread about how I got halo 2 for pc an hour ago! Yea, if you want it go to circuit city. They didn't get the memo about halo 2 being delayed because of the ".ass" error.

I'm about to play it while installing, maybe we can play sometime.

Halo 2 is the first game out there with support for the PC version of Xbox Live, the console's pay-to-play online service. There are two levels: a free silver level and a paid gold tier. The game comes with a free month of gold access, or if you already have an Xbox Live account, you can log in using your e-mail address and password. The split between silver and gold on the console makes some form of sense--if you pay for gold, you can play online games; if you're silver, you can't. Of course, that sort of tactic wouldn't work on the PC, where the standards for free online multiplayer are firmly entrenched, so Microsoft has made some seemingly arbitrary limits for silver members on the PC. Headset-based voice chat is available to all users, which is nice. Silver members are limited to using the server browser to find games, while gold members can hit a "quick match" button to get into a game quickly. This button has a habit of throwing you on empty gold tier servers, and the server browser works better anyway, so this is hardly a reason to sign up. It's also worth noting that one of the gold tier abilities will be to play against Xbox 360 players in select games, but Halo 2 does not have this sort of cross-platform support. Lastly, the game will only let you get multiplayer achievements if you have a gold account.
... so you get a 'Gold' account (allowed to play with xbox players) for one month then you have to pay for it.... then your on silver meaning you can only play with other PC users.... and they said Halo 2 doesnt even support the crossplatform with xbox.... so i dont think i will buy this game...

I belive the auto aim is when you use the Xbox360 control on your pc (like me, but not for fps)

I picked it up and was very impressed with the way MS put it together. I'm glad to see Gamepad support getting some love on the PC gaming platform. Multiplayer is alot of fun.

its cross platform? thats really unbalanced since most people will have more accurancy, better latency, better framerates, and better reaction time with a keyboard and mouse (and powerful PC) instead of a doofy xbox controller and an outdated console.

EDIT: I figured it wouldnt be ...

All right, so maybe we won't yet have a joystick vs mouse battle. But I'll bask in light knowing that we won the last skirmish.

What is he talking about? My thumb practically rests on B.

Still, good to see the PC gaming well.

If you had it a couple of months ago for PC, then it was a bootleg copy. Retailk was not released in the states until 5/31/07.
