Need help with a new build.

Thread Starter
I've been lurking around here for a while, and I just got done building my first computer.

On to the problem: I leak tested my system last night. No leaks so everything was good, so I go on to hook everything up and get everything installed. Everything is great until I hit the power switch and the fans and everything turn on for a brief second and then shut off. I thought it was the switch, or the power supply but it can't be the power supply because I jumped it off to leak test the thing last night.

I spent a good deal of money on building this one and I'm looking for something to get it running.

PS: I don't have anything hooked up to that little four pin connector for the processor, would that have anything to do with it?

It's the top one that's not connected.

I just took the stock cpu cooler off of the heatsink and hooked it up and set it down and tried it again. I hit the switch and the fans start up and everything and as soon as I let go of the switch it turns off. Or if I hold it it turns on and right back off and then when I let go it sometimes does that again.

I have tried switching off the PSU, and tried unplugging the psu. Haven't tried resetting the cmos or unplugging the power from the board.

How do you reset the cmos? Is that just taking the battery out of the board?

So you have a heatsink on the CPU, but no fan on it correct?

Try plugging in the fan, maybe you gotta have a fan plugged into the CPU fan mobo connector.

I have a waterblock on my cpu. I hooked up the cpu fan and just set it down on my gpu to see if that would make it stay on but i got nothing. So I just tried resetting the cmos and I still get the same old power on for a less than a second and then right back off.

Is the problem my motherboard? Because everything is brand new and I really don't feel like RMA'ing anything.
