6600gt temp problem

Thread Starter
i took off the original cooling system of the xfx 6600gt and
i put the ZALMAN ZM-17CU VGA HEATSINK fanless. Then
i tried to play Stalker to see the temp but i saw that :

1) the heatsink could not keep the temp at low levels (60-70 full)
2)the system crashed possible because of the overheating

After that the card's temperature starts always from 114 C (idle)

Is there anything i can do to fix the problem??
And why the heatsink didn't work?

Probably because it could not remove enough heat. Put the stock HS back on or get a better aftermarket HS.

Thermal paste, at most, would make a 10*c difference.
