3 x 90mm fans will suffice if you are limited to that diameter due to existing apertures. If you are going to purchase new 90mm fans take into consideration the cfm and dba (if noise level is of importance).

If you have the option of larger diameter fans, the 120mm species will provide greater ariflow at a lower rpm (generally speaking).

imho: The "blooming flower" design of the Zalman and the Blue Orb are similar to the airflow pattern of the BT; these have the potential to cause added turbulence as their airflow is perpendicular to the standard front-to-rear airflow of most cases.

...but not enough to cause drastic (or perhaps even noticeable) internal temperature variations...

Ya...straight-through airflow is desireable... ()
