I've had good luck with the e6600 conroe. Got that thing overclocked to 3.2GHZ (approx) and the temp only got to 45C (not comfortable, but workable). I was using all fans at the time, but my new setup has an "external" (on the other side of the motherboard tray) water cooling that i used a small inexpensive water pump from a fountain to pump water through copper pipes in a radiator configuration. Draws about 7C off of the system in an 80 degree room. More now that I've rigged my mini fridge up with my reservoir to cool it down.
