P4 3.0GHz bottlenecking my 8800GTS ? - Page 2

post #11 of 71
I get 6261 in 3dmark06. With a GTS you should be looking at 8500-9300

But you have a good CPU so I'd say that's my problem.
Anyway here's my 3DMark result:

I still dont think a lousy CPU would account for such a low score. I hate to say it but 4500 for an 8800gts is terrible.

Click < this guy has a similar setup to you, just an extra 1gb ram (ram doesnt really affect 3dmark though) but he only has the 320mb 8800gts, yet he scores 7190, which is really what you should be aiming for atleast. People with the same processor as you with X1950Pro's score more than 4500. So something is definately not right.

I'm sure Vista has nothing to do with it?

Vista does but not that much.

Definitly use the newest Nvidia drivers because the earlier ones for VISTA SUCK!!!

P4 = 6 op cycles right?
C2D = 12

At stock with my E6400 (2.13Ghz) I get 25 frames more if I were at 3.Ghz.

C2D at 2.13Ghz would be equivalent to a P4 at 4.26Ghz. This does not included the new architectures that the C2D offers.

In my conclusion, you are bottlenecking.
