I still think he's got more than the problem of his CPU being underpowered. I just managed a 3Dmark06 score of 4656 with the clocks in my sig, which are all 24/7 stable/error free. Done with a Sempron 64 s754 with 128KB L2 cache, and the x1950 GT AGP.

I haven't read all the thread, but here's what I think: YES, it's a huge bottleneck. I have a AM2 sempron single core at 2.8GHz, a 8600GT and I score 4700 on 3DMark 2006, so you have a problem.

In my opinion you should OC the processor you have before buying a new one. You should squeeze the last penny you've paid for it. There are numerous guides on how to do it, providing your motherboard is suited. If the mobo is not OCer friendly, then you should know for the next time to make a more thorough research.

Your CPU (if sk 775) can be either PD930 or a P4 HT (530, 531, 630 or 631), either can be terrific OCers. Every one of them should reach 3.4GHz safely at which point you should score over 5000 points.

Is this the mobo you have? Does it have the ATI chipset?
