Future Proof PSU

Thread Starter
I read on another forum that the 9xxxgtx card will most likely use an 8pin PCI-E connector. What PSU with an 8pin PCI-E connector do you guys recommend?
I need a PSU that will support my setup now:
e6600 @ 3.1ghz
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
4gb (2x2gb) Patriot ddr2 800
Antec p180b case
Pioneer dvd with IDE
In a year or two I am going to get a q6600 and 9xxxgtx and don't want to get a new PSU then so I would like a PSU now that supports my current and future systems.
Thanks
Sandy

To be honest, I really wouldn't worry about it. I can almost guarantee you that when and if you buy a Video Card that requires an 8-Pin PCI-E connecter, there will be at least one 4-to-8 pin adapter included with it. All you should have to worry about it making sure your PSU supplies enough Amps on the 12-Volt Rail. I'm not sure what the requirement would be for an Nvidia 9xxx series card, but it will almost definitely be a lot.

My 8800GTX requires 28A on the +12 Volt rail, and a 450 Watt total PSU. So, probably more than that.

I have this PSU, it has 1 8 pin PCI-e connector, and it provides 54 amps on the 12V. No problems there!
