Case Fan Selection, Good or Bad?

I guess this has to do with my cpu... So I'll post it here...

I just need to know how stupid it was to order these:

1 x Of these
2 x Of these
And 3 x Of this one

Basically, my case it really, really loud right now. I know I shouldn't be such a pansy about it, but since I'm sitting only about 2 or 3 feet away from my case, it gets old really really fast. Overall I spent about $150 on fans. The first one is going to my new Tuniq, 2 of the red and 2 of the blue are going on the side of my case in an alternating pattern, and the last one for intake for the hard drive cage. That's my current plan...

But I did read somewhere that they weren't very good for overclocking environments? I read they were 72 CFM, and 90 CFM for the larger one, I would think that would be alright. The next step was those Panaflo 115 CFM pans... But I don't need an airplane going by everytime I turn my computer on - good cooling or not. But are there any other reasons these are bad for overclocking, as that is a concern for me. I don't want strand myself somewhere after spending that much on fans.

Thanks!

In my opinion, it was not stupid at all. They do have the best noise/airflow ratio available, though they are louder than rated. Read my review of them!
http://www.overclock.net/hardware/sh...uct/535/cat/10

Take your time installing them and you won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure how loud the 18dBA one is, but I'd put the 14dBA ones at around 20dBA or a little higher - quite good.

Edit: These are great case fans. I don't know how they work for overclocking, but 90cfm is going to be close to as much air as will make a difference on any air-cooler available right now. I use the 110 cfm, 35dBA Silverstone FM121 fan to cool my Tuniq Tower 120, and I see a 5 degrees C difference at best between the lowest and highest settings. You should be fine.

i think u should have ordered more of the first one the rest flow less air at not much quieter. then again its sorta like the differenc between 533 ram and 667 ram, which is huge and 667 ram and 800 ram which isnt as big, this probably aplies to dba from 14-20. i heard somewhere that the first 20 dba make a big difference in 1 dba intervals, but i still believe that anything under 20 dba is quiete and u want 90 cfm or more.

The Silenx ratings aren't that accurate, so the 90cfm fan is going to be significantly louder than the 72cfm one.

Well, that one is also 120 x 120 x 38, and I didn't want to push it too much. The others are 120 x 120 x 25

Tyor, buy a fan controller, turn the fans down a bit, there's no reason to run them at max speed.

NICE! those fans are amazing. i have the 74-14's and i couldn't be happier. wish i could afford more of them...
