22 vs 24 inch - anyone got both?

Thread Starter
Just wondering if anyone has both 22 and 24 inch monitors and what you think about them?

Is there much difference between the two?

Is the size noticable?
Is the dot pitch noticable?

What is the 24" one like for reading text compared to the 22"? From the same distance, does the text look bigger on the 22 or 24? Does it look sharper on one or the other? Which one is text more easy to read on?

Could you post a pic with both side by side please?

Thanks!

I don't have both, but do note that the 24" has a higher resolution (1920 x 1200 v. 1680 x 1050 for the 22") That's more than 30% more pixels on a screen that isn't 30% bigger... thus, smaller pixels on the 24" monitor, resulting in smaller text, but more 'real estate'. Text size can obviously be adjusted anyways.

I only have a 22" monitor, but I love it. I don't have notable pixellation, and the text size is good for me. It's an ideal size to work with two documents side-by-side in my opinion.

Returned? As in you recently got it? Did you not like it, or just decide to upgrade?

I got my 22" a couple weeks ago and love it. I feel a little overwehlmed in games, but coming from a 17", thats to be expected. I personally think its a better screen then a 24" for gaming; the real estate you're trying to watch just gets to large. You can't take it all in at once. And with programming and multiple docs, a 22" is just right. I also use my 17" as a secondary monitor, which is very nice to keep things organized. Another benefit (to me) with the 22" is that you don't need as powerful of a GPU to push it. the 24" will prefer an 8800GTX to max games, while the 22" will not need the extra $200 spent on the video card to max games out.

Just my thoughts.

The quality between the 22 and 24 also depends on what brand monitor ur getting. I got the Dell 24inch widescreen and the text on it isnt really much different than my 17inch widescreen laptop. Only difference i noticed is the Dell 24inch text is a little more crisp. If ur not multi-taskin or gaming i'd stick to a 22. I only got the 24 because i always have alot of windows up.

I need to justify having 8800GTX SLI, the 24" will do that.

I loved the 22" it was very nice monitor and I am now on a 17" until my new one arrives.

My roommate has a Sceptre 22 inch and I have a Dell 24 inch. The only thing I noticed when using his computer vs mine was that his looked notably smaller, it felt like such a step down. Maybe it was just in my head (sometimes I think most things are like that) but either one would be good, it just depends on your budget and what you're used to. I never would have felt that way if I didn't have a 24 inch to begin with.

I have a 22' and my friend has a 24'

i kinda like his 24' better for movies but when we play games, we dont notice any difference really. u sorta get imersed and forget.

but both sizes are 16:10 so ya 22' is cheaper but hey, for the extra bucks, u can get a bigger display.
