If you're gonna get an 8600 then get an Evga card, that way you can use their Step_up program for a better card when you have the money.

Yes I was thinking about that also...is there any program for the x1950xt I could go with? b/c I am going to buy a 8800gts eventually unless something better comes before the price drop.

No there is not. And if you buy a card hoping to step it up, keep in mind you have only a limited time frame within which you can step up your card.

X1950 no question. Not alot of point in getting a dx10 card atm tbh. I'de only get the 8800 but since you've restricted yourself definately go with the X1950

You've 90 days from the date of invoice, so on the 89th day you sign up and get in the step-up queue. Once you're in the queue, you stay until your new card is available.
