Wait...Vista gives BETTER performance? - Page 2

Mine went up also, but that's because in xp it wouldn't let me install the newest video drivers. So I was like at 6.8 with 7.2 out .

The fault with the FPS loss is not the fault of Vista....it is the fault of ATI and Nvidia makes ****astic drivers for Vista. They are the ones to blame....not Vista.

In vista I do see better responsiveness from the OS - but it does not perform better in 3dGames. As for my 7950 GX2, its near impossible to get it to run correctly with Vista. I am also having 1000mb LAN read problems with Vista - as in XP machines are getting ~55-60mbs whereas my Vista machines are maxing at ~11mbs. However, write speeds are constant between machines.

As far as I can see, you really can't blame them either. Everything has its downfalls at start now you have a new OS and new hardwarealso makes it a little difficult. I am truly happy with my system, if I change anything it will be a second 8800GTX, thats it.

a friend of mine went to vista for about 3 days before going back to xp because when he quit games his comp became unresponsive... the games ran fine but nothing worked after he quit, he has a 7900gt. i've heard this is a driver problem and this is the main reason i have not gone to vista. do you think i will have these problems also?

Hard to tell, results are all over the board. In this thread, seems like most people are happy, but it's hard to tell.
Just *acquire* Vista, set up a dual boot and try it out for a little while. If you like it, then get a licensed copy from microsoft.

Not that you wouldn't already have one from *acquiring* it.

First off Higgins, thanx for the link to the Corsair XMS memory. I have this also and I was looking to max out my memory when I get Vista. Since Vista requires at least 1Gb. 4GB will be nice and I'm sure I won't have any problems running Vista and playing games. I'll comment one Visat once I get Vista on my computer.
