Beginner seeks help

I am trying to oc a C2D 4300 on Asus P5B Plus Vista edition with 2 x 1GB Kingston DDR-2 800 RAM using the stock heat sink. With all other BIOS settings as default values, The max. CPU frequency I can change without system hang at bootup is 220 (which is essentially 1.98 GHz). The temp display at BIOS is pretty normal - 41C (CPU) and 42C (M/B). I have tried to fix the PCIE at 100 and PCI to 33, but it didn't help. Anyone can shed some light on this? coz I would expect at least I can oc a 4300 to run at 2.5-2.8 Ghz. Thanks.

Perhaps you need more VCore?

Filling in your system spec under the user control pannel wouldn't hurt either. =D

When I read other messages on this forum, most of you could achieve at least a 2.5 Ghz without pumping up the Vcore on 4300. The most I can get in this case is only 1.98 GHz. Just so disappointed.

I tried the same CPU on an ASRock 945DVI, without pumping up the Vcore, it could run at 2.2 GHz. With almost 2.5 times the price, the Asus P5B Plus Vista should not under-perform the ASRock at all. Perhaps some of you with enough oc experience could help telling me the typical BIOS setting on the ASUS P5B Plus M/B. Thanks very much.

My ASRock board uses a slightly higher than normal VCore, perhaps yours is the same?

As to what other people have gotten, not every component is the same for example my RAM wont even touch 401 FSB even with 2.3V when other people have managed 450+ on 2V.

Edit: What is your VCore out of curiosity?
