EVGA 8800GTS Fan settings

Thread Starter
Just wondering I have a evga 8800GTS and I was playing Oblivion (maxxed settings) for an hour and a half and I never heard the gfx card fan spin faster than normal operation. i thought this is quiet strange as my previous 7800gs span faster when entering a game.

Is this a common thing with the 8 series cards or do i have to RMA this card?

Now that you brought it up, I never paid attention to that.

You can also use Riva Turner 2 to adjust your fan's speed. I set mines from 50% default to 75%, which is still the same sounding for me.

yea its quiet strange. I was about to use Rivatuner but I wanted to see if other users are getting the same problem and if its normal.

Can anybody else bring any light to this subject?

I haven't really ever noticed mine spin up but I always have the game turned up and my case fans on high too so I don't think I could hear it anyways.

Use this program to check your temp. This is the program many of us use to overclock to.

If your temp is fine, then there's no need to worry. The 8-series card can run hot, but they are built to endure it. I idle at 56C and load up to around 70C. I wouldn't surpass 80C load.

it doesn't do automatic speed changes as far as i know... although i have only been up to about 80C...

75% is not audibly louder to me but reduces temps quite a bit...
