Its a cell phone too. To put a hard drive in it would suck battery life like it was going out of style. I would think that you don't have to put every album or song onto your iPod, just the ones you listen to most frequently and once you get tired of those put on something different. No one listens to 8gb worth of music in one sitting.

8GB for as said a RAZR with a touchscreen. I got a v3xx with 100$ back with new contact on cingular..

If this thing had:

3G, 2 MP Cam + Flash, 5GB onboard with an expansion slot for like 2 GB Micro SD or transflash or something and a bunch of features like mobile office and stuff then I would fork over 200-400.. No more.

I for one will be getting iPhone 2, which will probably have the latest net such as 3G and have a SIM CARD.

That's right, no unlocking this pos.. No sim card.. Or I heard wrong :|

Oh and even if there is a sim, no way to replace battery if it fails..

iPhone OS X will destroy your Razr. The price is high, I think the two versions are a sham and I'm waiting til Apple drops one or the other unless Cingular gives me a discount for being a customer for like six years.

I want one, though.

then there is no point to the ipod, I Listen to a lot of music, and I don't want to go through my collection every night and switch out songs.

This is why people have pockets.

Side 1: Cell Phone + iPod -- Side 2: Wallet + Keys + Gum

Papers and other junk accumulate amongst each pocket...

I think PDA's are awesome though but iPhone fails.. EDGE, no slide out keyboard, no replaceable bat, cam is ok, flash is probably ok, has all same features as say Cingular 8525 but more mem and a few hundred more.. Save the few hundred and carry around a few micro SD 2GB's.

The only thing I think I have an issue with is not being able to upgrade to a larger capacity internal storage at will. 8gb is kinda puny for a guy who wants to put his own short movies on to show people on the fly.

However, seein as how it runs OS X:

Free Visual GPS navigation for the car

Replaces your iPod

iPod Video/iTunes Video Downloads

Free iChat/Instant Messenger (Seein as how you have to go through loops and hoops to avoid paying extra for messenger on PDAs)

Everything else a PDA does (Scheduling, etc)

And a host of sick Widgets that programmers will pass out like candy.

Yeah, you say for the fail? I say sign me up... (as soon as they decide which one they're keeping.)

I call fail. Free AIM on any PDA: aim.com and then click Aim express... Also with cingular you get a plan for unlimited text / net and there you have it.

This is just yet another shiny piece of plastic to enable self-satisfied apple fanboys to be condescending towards those less "tech-savvy" than they are.I think the iPhone is actually rather neat, the problem is that it doesn't do anything remarkably different from any other PDA phone other than a touchscreen, and it costs twice as much. I love how every Apple product released is "revolutionary", even if it doesn't do anything new, just different. Hence, think different. Be different, because it makes you cool. Just like these cheesy and annoying mac vs. PC commercials. If I wanted a media device I would buy one, not buy a phone with a stunted one built in that has to fight for battery life with the media player function. "Oh, sorry I couldn't call you back my phone died because I was watching too many podcasts!"

Also, PLEASE PLEASE APPLE STOP PUTTING "i" IN FRONT OF EVERYTHING It was old a year or two ago, and only continues to become more and more iLame every time you do it.

Just because you like hassle doesn't mean the rest of the world does.

Carry around more 2 gig cards? Sorry, hassle.

Go to Aim Express? Sorry, hassle.

Every solution you list is an extra hassle to deal with. Carry iPod, phone, keys, etc? Hassle.

Why not combine two everyday devices to free up pocket space instead of taking up more with extra junk.
